Call of the Heroes

“Jack Saves the Day”

Whew, that was close! What will Jack encounter next?  Just when you think everything is fine, there is always more wrong to right.

They were no match for Jack!

What a great day, can’t wait to do it again tomorrow.

Movie Mania!

Heartland Film Festival

Heartland Film Festival

Here’s my weekend plan, check out as many films as I possibly can! I look forward to this film festival every year and I always leave feeling enlightened and uplifted. If you ever get the chance to attend a film fest, I suggest you look into it. You never know adventures, lessons, or encounters may be in store for you; and it’s okay to go alone. Don’t let people make you feel bad or weird for going to a movie by yourself, because you’re not really by yourself. You are a member of a community, having a shared experience with your fellow audience members. Have a good weekend, and go do something fun!

Oh Fifty…err, Charlie, We Hardly Knew Yee

The timing of this could not have been any better, EW readers know where I am going with this.  So, just when the waters were starting to settle in the bdsm-loving world known as the 50 Shades of Grey film, Christian Grey himself drops out.  What is happening here?  Over the weekend Charlie Hunnam backed out of the role citing a lack of preparation time due to his busy schedule.  I would have bought this, but then I watched E! News, and of course they went digging around and discovered that no such change had occurred…hmm.  My excellent use of deduction skills leads me to believe that at this point a couple of things may have happened.  Continue reading

Happy Christmas Eve!

Merry Christmas Eve!

Yes, I am one of those people who would love to hear Christmas music year-round, and always gets real excited with the build-up each year. Hopefully all your Christmas shopping is complete, if not there is always the dependable gift card.

Today will consists of making endless amounts of sweets including seven-layer bars and cookies to chocolate covered Chex mix (aka “Puppy Chow”) and Red-velvet cupcakes.  All while listening and singing to Christmas tunes.  We are going to go non-stop over here until, of course, our stomachs start to drive us crazy! My sister already made Red Velvet cake pops last night, AND she did it without that cake pop maker! Needless to say, they turned out delicious, we smashed them.

There is so much to love about Christmas time. I love spending time with my family and getting a chance to hang out with them, because we’re not always together now. I love the magic that is associated with Santa Claus. I love that he is a symbol of hope, joy, and happiness. I love that that magic of Santa can exist in any one of us, which is why I will always be a believer. Santa Claus, of course, is not the main star of this special time of year, it is the time that many Christians, myself included, reflect on the birth of Jesus Christ. We know that this time is really all about Him, and for those who don’t believe in Santa, that same spirit of hope, joy, and happiness can be manifested through belief in Jesus. It is just a matter of how you choose to manifest that spirit.

It is my deepest wish that everyone get the chance to spend today and tomorrow with the  people they love.  In the end, Christmas is not about the presents you receive, but the joy you give to others.  There is really nothing better than being able to give with a joyful heart, it is one of the most euphoric feelings that I’ve ever been able to experience.

Enjoy this time with your loved ones, and do not take each other for granted; time is precious and life is short.

Much Love,

Phoenix

Bye Bye Bye Teenage Dream

My Ultimate Crush

I know that I’ve been rather inconsistent here, being back on that school grind has left me little time to share my insights with all of you fine people; so the fact that I’m taking time out of the drowning waters of reading and research to share this life-changing moment with you speaks volumes to its influence in my life.

Happy Fall!

Hey Everybody, what’s happening?!

I hope everyone had a chance to enjoy the Summer season and all she had to offer. Now that Fall has officially arrived, the time has come to put away all the volleyball nets, clean up the sand, and drain the pool.

Let us remember the glorious, warm weather and begin the shift into jackets and scarves. I don’t know about you, but I am constantly wearing a sweater with gloves at the ready in my jacket!

Take care and keep warm!
